The kitchen is open- We should be boarding an airplane today. Final destination New Zealand, for Doug's 60th birthday. Like many, whose birthdays, weddings and other celebrations have been interrupted by this global health crisis, we thought certainly by now things would be better. While physical travel to the area must wait, we can still journey by imagination, sense and taste. September marks the beginning of spring there, and so in Doug's honor we depart, if only in spirit, to enjoy cooler temperatures and Kiwi fare. Kiwifruit Salad Mince and Cheddar Pies Spring Rack of Lamb Kumara Salad Smoked Salmon and Herb Omelette Kitchen Traveler is the creative brainchild of Michele McMurry and husband Doug, who together recreate global dishes from their cozy galley kitchen in San Antonio, Texas.

Huka Falls is definitely one of the most beautiful places I have travelled and the dining experience at Huka Lodge was amazing!
